On distant shores.
I've been away for a bit because family have been visiting - for four weeks - and I needed some time to recuperate afterwards!
Getting older and seeing parents getting older is always confronting, especially when you've only seen them over a screen for a couple of years. Lives carry on miles apart, on distant shores, but the bond of family holds.
So many families are distancing themselves from each other even when they are close in distance. It is delightful to hear of one's that stay close even when they are miles apart.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie. It's really sad when families distance themselves over differences of opinion, though I understand that when there are harmful circumstances it can be necessary.
DeleteHow wonderful to hear that you've had your parents visiting! That's a gift at any age. Your distant shores spread contains the whole story, knowing that they are such a long way away and your visits have been screen generated for so long. Lovely that you also took the time for some self-care after they left...you are an inspiration on all counts!
ReplyDeleteSelf-care was a necessity after four weeks, Win! The goodbyes were bittersweet as I don't know if they'll make it over here again with Dad's Parkinson's plus ageing making insurance more difficult.
