Following the Creative Jumpstart idea of Catherine Scanlon, I painted some background, dripped pale red ink on it and stepped back to see what was there. The drips kept reminding me of tree trunks, so I outlined them and made them browner. A layer of green at the top and some grass at the bottom, and there I was, peering through the trees at the light beyond, trying to see the path ahead.
