I found myself thinking over the last few weeks about a post I saw over at Mary Brack's blog. She has been making a book of lists and one of them was 'What makes me cry' which is the one that had me thinking. I find myself crying when I read news items or see films where people honour one another, serve one another, and act for the good of each other.
I come back to the passage in Philippians 2 that talks about looking not only to our own interests and counting others as more significant than ourselves. I worked out that when I see this happening in the world, that's what makes me cry: seeing small snippets of the world how it is meant to be. Small acts of selflessness, service, and humility.
The world could use more humility.
A beautiful page and wonderful thoughts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page, Tracy. I love that my art journaling post led you to pondering and self-awareness. That is a huge part of what art journaling does for me! Your words remind me of a friend I work with who writes about "Losing Eden", the place where everything was as God designed until sin entered the picture and we all having a deep longing to have Eden restored. I think we feel the tug of that longing when we experience the types of situations you wrote about. I cry over the same things and I think it's a good thing. :)
ReplyDeleteI adore your last one and this one too!
ReplyDeletethis is what makes ME crying - crying tears of joy!
So true! Wonderful page, Tracy.

The world really could use more humility. So many people seem to be giving up on others and becoming overly defensive. It can be so heartbreaking to watch. Such a lovely post with some really deep and interesting thoughts. Thank you for sharing.
