Hoops

Jumping through the hoops.

There are times where it feels like you're having to do ridiculous things; things that feel superfluous or obvious or a downright waste of time. But you have to jump through the hoops if you want the system to work for you. Things go more smoothly if you follow through on all the steps and don't try to take shortcuts. So my advice is to fill in those forms in good time; don't leave it until the last minute.

  1. I am loving this page for the colour and the thought behind it. I've been jumping through the hoops of the medical system for nearly 12 years now as I've endeavored to get help for John for dementia. Wandering in a labyrinth of diagnostic tools, health care segments and extensive/challenging forms and more has been crazy-making. And yet, while it has often felt like a waste of time, it must be done to accomplish the goal - one step at a time.

    1. It's so frustrating when people aren't seen as individuals, just a bunch of tick-boxes. You are a saint, wading through it all for so many years. John is so blessed to have someone advocate for him. We know families where one party is advocating for someone and the siblings are working against them - it makes me so sad and angry.

    2. It is a difficult thing to navigate; there is so much stigma against dementia and such a fast-growing number of sufferers. We can only hope that 'they' will find some solutions, and soon!
