Charcoal grey and pale pink were the chosen colours for this week (see button in the sidebar to join in the fun). I have to say I'm not really a pink kind of person unless it's hot pink paired with orange - a previous colour choice for this challenge.
I've found that using the time-lapse camera can make me feel a little pressured in making decisions. I usually work on pages over a couple of days, letting each layer dry and thinking about what comes next. You don't have that luxury with the time-lapse because you can't pause it. So I thought that this time I would pick out some materials to use, limiting myself only to those things.
The things I noticed about this page when it was finished: I didn't use any paint or gesso, I used lots of tape, and there's lots of white space.
Sometimes it's good to restrict yourself. You force yourself to consider options other than the ones you usually reach for. And the results can be surprising.
LOVE your sweet page!. I LOVE the tapes & the heart :). It's great that you challenged yourself and came out a winner!

Aaah! Beautiful, Tracy! I always enjoy your thoughtful inspiration. Likin' your gray and pink, too! Have a creative day! Hugs to you, my friend, kath
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! Valerie
ReplyDeleteI really like the more open nature of the page... white spaces work on this one beautifully and draw our attention to what you have done... I really like the end result... happy week 4
ReplyDeleteWonderful elements for a unique piece!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are so right!!! I love how your page turned out! You used this week's SOC colors beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI really like the white space on the card, something I am terrible at utilising on my own pages, great use of the colours. I find the same thing about restrictions. I push myself a lot more to experiment and play and try new things I wouldn't normally do if I am turning to my default of paint. Great page. :)
ReplyDeletethe time lapse video was brilliant to watch - not sure I could take the pressure! The finished piece looks fab!
ReplyDeleteGreat page, and I really enjoyed watching the video. So interesting to see how you auditioned the various pieces before finally placing them.
