Sshh!

This page was becoming way too loud - too many different colours, too many shapes, just a mess. Not even the addition of some circles could save it :)

So I toned it all down with a coat of gesso. There, that was much better. A little quieter.

As the page sat on my desk I thought about how, sometimes, I wish I could 'put a coat of gesso' on the world. Sometimes it feels a bit too loud. Slightly overwhelming. A bit more than I can handle.

When I'm in a crowd; when too many people are talking at once; when it's just too loud or bright or has just gone on too long, I want the world to be quiet.

Just for a bit.

Just long enough for me to breathe; to gather my scattered wits; to recharge my batteries and be ready to face the world again.

I'm joining in for the first time over at Inspiration Avenue where the challenge for the week is words.

  2. I know just what you mean about putting a coat of Gesso over the world. I love this piece, the colors are so restful. And the words are perfect. Thanks for sharing with us at IA! I hope you'll be back next week!
