Reach for the sky!

This page really wasn't going anywhere. I gessoed over it a couple of times. Adding the magenta and removing paint through a stencil made it come alive for me. It made me think of a cliff - a bright magenta cliff admittedly, but it's my art journal, so it can be whatever I want :) - and I could picture trees growing out of the top.

So I added them. As you do.

It was obviously a tall cliff because a flock of birds appeared, lower than the trees.

And it made me think: Reach for the sky.

Why would you aim any lower? Because you might fail? But how will you feel if you never try? Will you live in the shadow of the cliff forever, or climb up and give flying a go?

  1. It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who has gessoed and re-gessoed to get something that's likeable. It's a good metaphor for growth in people too, I think - love your page!
